The Cleve Carney Art Gallery is pleased to present Claire Ashley: Lumpy Morsels, Hot Rocks. For this solo exhibition Ashley has created a brand new body of work consisting of numerous small inflatable sculptural forms. This work stands in contrast to Ashley¹s signature large neon colored works relying on a softer, more gradated palette and a human scale. Piled, stacked, and squeezed in the space the sculptures respond to both land and body scape. The resulting bakery-style display exists as a mangled conglomeration of rocks, breasts, and buns (the body or cake version).
In addition to these new sculptures Lumpy Morsels, Hot Rocks will present work that continues Ashley¹s investigation into collaborative performance and dance. Partially or fully submerged dancers will perform from within her sculptures, bumping, bouncing and dancing throughout the space.
